I just deleted Scene 1.
I have been working on Timeless for years. It started as a novel. Then I wanted to do a screenplay but I didn’t have the guts or the determined, mercenary spirit required, so I ended up just converting my novel to a dialogue format and continuing to write it that way. I called it “episodes” but it was more like a mini-series that could go on forever (have you seen “Revenge”?) and I got overwhelmed.
Then I finally let myself read “Save the Cat” by Blake Snyder. It turns out he’s dead, but that didn’t stop me from having great conversations with him, and now he’s helping me “Save the Timeless” with a whole new approach. I rewrote Episode 1, Scene 1 today. I think.
So much can’t be part of Timeless, the Screenplay, when I think lovingly of what the novel explores. But I think we can make a great film, in the tradition of Empire Records, Whip It and Fame. And in the tradition of Fame, maybe a television series about the Kids of Timeless to follow!
Still, I’m not ready to share it yet. I’m sorry to tease, but if you want to be part of this new development, contact me directly and I’ll add you to my small reader circle for this new focus.
